Information Specialist II (Contract, South San Francisco, CA)

Genentech is looking for a Information Specialist II in South San Francisco, CA. It is a 6-36 months contract on W2.

Duties:

The Development Sciences Informatics group is looking for an individual to support the Development Sciences organization, containing over 400 people, with implementations of informatics and data management solutions.  This position will require a unique blend of informatics skills and scientific knowledge in order to help deliver and support high quality solutions that provides value to the users.  This will be a great opportunity for someone in the scientific field with proficiency/interest/experience with software programming, data management, and data analysis who is eager to switch tracks to a more informatics specific field.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the project teams and contribute to software design, development, and deployment
  • Develop data management solutions using Python, R, or other programming languages
  • Develop data visualization solution using tools such as Spotfire and QuickSight
  • Work as a technical liaison between end users, IT, and software vendors to define business requirements and deploy off-the-shelf software
  • Document software design, development, and deployment activities

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency/experience with Python, R, or other programming languages
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to interface with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Ability to learn new software tools and processes quickly

Desired Skills:

  • Proficiency and experience with Spotfire, QuickSight, or Tableau tools
  • Experience with data management in AWS
  • Ability to author complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • Understanding of the nonclinical safety data

Education: 

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Life Science, Computer Science or a related field
  • 1-3+ years experience in data management / programing in Python or other programming languages
